But it did get me thinking
. On my Air Asia flight alone, I saw half a dozen people roll a Rimowa into the cabin. And in the airport it felt like a surprising number of people were using one. It made me wonder
. Is there a lot of counterfeit Rimowa around?

Yes, I bought one to compare with the Rimowa, side by side, and to be frank the quality of the look-a-like (not a "fake", since it doesn't claim to be Rimowa, it just looks almost identical minus the logo) is very good. The materials, construction and wheels are all almost the same as the real thing for less than 10% of the price of the real thing. The only notable cost cutting is the telescoping handle.
I probably wouldn't have bought the Rimowa carry-on if I saw the look-a-like first.
