Glad to hear the pool and rooftop are good. My 4 year old will love that. Sounds like it's good to be above it, but you were down in it (the room).
I don't blame the staff for not understanding the gift card. Those $100 gift cards are nothing but trouble. I had serious issues redeeming them both at The Cape and Hyatt Ziva Riviera Cancun. Or maybe it's a Mexico thing? lol
Curious to hear more about the breakfast options. Any shots of the menu or more info there? Thanks!
I had a hard time deciding on the GC or points. I ultimately decided on the GC only after verifying I could use it on this stay. In the future, I will probably just stick with the 5k points.

Check out the Derba breakfast menus here . The chilaquiles rojos were quite good, as was the french toast. My husband got the omelette everyday and he swears the ketchup is excellent (not a big ketchup fan myself, so I will take his word for it). We skipped breakfast a few times because we were out quite late at a music festival, so I only got to try out a few options. Before CDMX, we were at a posh AI in CUN for several days, so I was grateful that the food at Derba was not super heavy or rich like it was at the resort. They do have a rather expansive drink menu, and the design of the cafe is very unique and interesting in a midcentury/70s/kitschy way.

I used to never be afraid (of booking an Andaz). Now just this hole that's open wide.
