There's a serious issue with Avios bookings when it comes to this. You're entitled to a carry on bag but it doesn't say this. Your boarding pass should say carry on bag included. If it doesn't just bring it through and politely insist that you're allowed to bring it on. Might be handy to have a printout of what ROKNA has posted above
