When you purchase a ticket with points the travel agency buys it with their credit card. The agency will not refund the points until the airline refunds their money. You need to be certain that the airline issues the refund to the original form of payment, rather than as a credit.

cxLoyalty says:

Reservations are subject to the rules of each supplier. Refunds, if permitted, may take up to 60 days to appear in your account.

If you don’t see the credit after 2 billing cycles, call Chase Travel at the number listed on your itinerary.
