You are originating at JFK on an AA flight. AA has a policy of not through check luggage on two separate tickets, even on AA to AA situations. It is possible that AA at JFK will not check through your luggage to Taiwan even if you ask because you are on two separate tickets.
I do think 1 hr. 40 min. is cutting too close if you cannot check your luggage to Taiwan.
Thank you for the quick response - if we didn't have checked luggage then, do you know if there is a transit desk to get a boarding pass for the next flight (in case we can't check in online)? I am assuming if we could check in for the next flight and show a boarding pass, we could just go through transit security and straight airside in international departures?
