Another option is to not use it on AA. I live in a UA hub and selected UA for my credit. If AA isn't viable, I use UA and use the credit there for wifi, food, seats, upgrades etc. Also, if my parents or family etc. visit, they tend to fly UA (as its nonstop), so I use the credit for their bags etc.
