Small detail here, Delta did a schedule change to my flight a few weeks ago (it wasn't drastic, but it was enough that Delta allowed me to make a flight change to a nonstop route that wasn't available for a companion certificate otherwise.) Weird loop-hole that allowed me to score this ticket.
Would you think that because of me modifying the ticket with this loop hole, that this is why it's showing the ticket for the companion having an expiration date of January 2024? I tried to modify to another flight (tested for April, and for December before/after the cert expriation date) and both tests said "Please call us"
My guess is I either am screwed and can't modify at all? (less likely) or I've scored some great loop hole that allows me to change the flight to January 2024 but it would require a phone agent to move.
Thoughts?
You should be able to call and make changes (schedule changes can generally screw up the ability to make changes yourself online). The credit from primary ticket would be good for travel for one year, but I don't think you will be able to make changes and still get be able get comp companion ticket if you attempt to change to flights beyond expiration date (unless perhaps an agent is able to override booking companion beyond expiration of cert).
