Do CC have a checklist of standard things to do? Although not high up on my priority list, it seems a simple and quick thing to do and one that should be second nature on any CS flight. And yes, I appreciate they have many other safety critical duties they need to focus on.
Unlocking isn't on a checklist (however it is contained in a 60 page service document )
Locking is on a safety checklist and discussed pre flight every flight.
