I don't even think of smoking anywhere near an airplane these days. Well, I don't smoke, but my frequent traveling companion does ... so I'll often be standing outside shivering while he puffs away. It's funny when traveling overseas and you can still smoke in the terminal! I do remember the days when the back part of the airplane was yellow from the nicotine stains ...

I also remember when someone at Pan Am came up with the brilliant ( ) idea of making the 3 seats on the right hand side of the cabin smoking, and the rest of the cabin non smoking. That didn't last long.

I think the last flight you could smoke on domestically was TWA from STL to HNL on their 767. That lasted until just a few years ago ...
