I agree that the decision will be made above the call center level, but I called Bonvoy customer service yesterday and specifically asked if the reservation would be honored and was told unequivocally yes, that the booking wouldn’t be canceled and I was all set. It would be a really bad look for Marriott corporate to change its tune later.
Am also booking alternative vacation (also all refundable) until some of these awards stays actually happen and then I'll cancel. I understand some may not have the means to do that so hopefully it will be cleared up, one way or the other, once they officially open.
