From
https://www.qatarairways.com/en/baggage/allowance.html , economy allowance is 25,30 or 35Kg
I would expect that an award flight would come under the 30Kg allowance, but I would telephone AA or QR to find out what is recorded ; would start with QR
In the past, Asia-Europe award flights always came with 30Kg baggage allowance, and I always see this 30Kg allowance stated when I manage reservations on the Qatar website. However, this time, I see no mention of baggage allowance which seems weird.
As an aside, all legs CGK-DOH-LHR-OPO requires a fee to book a seat in advance. However, for the MAD-DOH and DOH-CGK legs on my way back from LIS-MAD-DOH-CGK, I'm able to book seats in advance at no charge. This is peculiar considering that both itineraries are AA award flights booked on the same day showing as bucket fare "X" on Qatar's side.
The seats attracting fees made me wonder whether award flights are now getting less included benefits in terms of seat selection and baggage allowances.
I was finally able to reach an AA representative after a long hold. They said my check-in baggage allowance is 1 piece max 50 lbs (which is 23 Kg) hence a little different from what Qatar told me (Qatar said maybe 25 Kg).
