AAdvantage redemptions in Economy Class on BA and IB typically book into a fare class that allows one free checked bag. I think that there have been some issues with baggage allowances on QR flights booked with AAdvantage miles.
Edited to add: The reported issues re: baggage allowance on AAdvantage award tickets apparently related to flights on EY, not QR.
This is what I see on the bottom of my AA e-ticket receipt:
"Carry-on bags
1st carry-on Includes purse, briefcase, laptop bag, or similar item that must fit under the seat in front of you.
2nd carry-on Maximum dimensions not to exceed: 22" long x 14" wide x 9" tall (56 x 35 x 23 cm)."
Hence no mention of check-in bags. It sounds like the default of AA domestic flight allowances.
