Biggest let down of the year? Hilton on the Park, Melbourne. I've stayed in better Travel Inns

Best flight of the year? QF SYD-AKL in C, perfectly relaxed, superb seat (1A on the 767), brilliant service for a 2.5 hour flight and great food.

Best travel discovery of the year (physical)? Melbourne

Best travel discovery of the year (non-physical)? BHX winter I-fares

Hotel of the year? Ooh, difficult. Best upgrade was the Hilton Barcelona, best lounge was the Hilton Prague, best overall experience Sheraton on the Park, Sydney. Commendations to the Hilton Cologne and the Hilton Islington which always maintain a steady high level of service for me.

Worst travel experience of the year? Lufthansa, especially in economy.

Regret of the year? Too much jet lag to enjoy Hong Kong and Singapore properly.
