All of this begs the question: What time period is AA using? Does all travel in 2021 and 2022 count? Is it just 2022? Or does January and February 2023 also get placed into the calculation?
I don’t think qualification has ever been a “you spent X in a 365 day period, so you’re in”. I’m sure what’s more important:
- Consistent purchases of high margin tickets
- Decision maker on others’ travel purchases
- What’s the general trend in spending? If you’re borderline, but it’s clear you’re now on, say, a $100k annual spend run rate, you’ve got a better shot than someone who also just barely makes the cut off but whose spending is on a secular decline
