I tried doing this with American miles booking on JAL. Did you have to add an infant WITH Alaska after booking with Alaska?
I called up JAL and they said AA had to add the infant first before they could give a quote. Called AA who then told me they could not add infant due to JAL policy and gave me 2 options: 1) book a 2nd award ticket for the infant 2) buy revenue ticket and infant will be 10% of the revenue.
I can't be the first to redeem miles for lap infant international tickets, yet neither airline really seems to know what to do about this.
