It was a nice suite, not huge, but everything worked fine and outside of the the rather spotted rug in the living room was in pretty good shape. Housekeeping did a very good job of servicing the room. I never once came back to the room without it having had its daily service, even after having been gone once for only an hour to use the gym.
I would rate the breakfast as good, but nothing special. I would say it is a little better than that of the Hyatt Place London City East. There is no club lounge (I'm not sure if there was one when it was a Crown Plaza). In lieu of the lounge as a Globalist I was given 7 vouchers for a drink and snacks each night I was there. The snack offerings were actually rather substantial (you were allowed two from a list of 8). For example, the cheese macaroni with bacon crumbles was a meal in itself. I only wish they had a salad as a snack option. Overall I was fairly content with the snacks but did get tired of them after a few nights.
I used the gym a couple of times. It has your basic hotel equipment but it is in a rather small room which makes everything rather crowded. There is barely room to place a mat on the floor for stretching.
I was actually pleasantly surprised with the location. Vauxhall station to the east is about a 5-10 minute walk and is on the Victoria line. There are a few bars and restaurants between the hotel and the station with a Tesco Express a block from the hotel. To the west one can walk to the South Bank/National Theatre/Waterlook Station area in about 15 minutes. While the hotel is not in the heart of things in central London it is well located to access a great deal rather easily by tube or taxi.
I did have similar feelings after 7N executive suite stay last week. Nice Thames and Parliament view and location is good if not great. Generally the service was excellent and no complains . Breakfast was above average and Globalist can have cold buffet + hot British items or cold buffet + one menu item. I ordered 3 menu items Pancake/French Toast/Royal eggs in first three mornings, all delicious except the eggs not very well done, the portion was generous and note takeaway was not allowed, actually I just ate maybe only one third of the pancake and half of the toast, total bill 34 pounds. Happy hour snacks were full meal size not small appetizer size and can serve as dinner. Breakfast time ends at 10AM Mon - Fri which seems a little early and I have reflected this with adaptor issue (details below) on my review yesterday and I got reply this morning from their duty manager, nice touch. Happy hour ends at 7pm which seems earlier too (mentioned on my review). Due to early ending, I missed one breakfast and two happy hours. Great Scott Yard breakfast ends at 10:30AM Mon - Fri.
First night before going to happy hour I asked the FD lady to borrow an adaptor for my MacBook Air and she said sorry they ran out and I could buy one from grocery store next door, then I went to happy hour with a little frustration. Moments later when I enjoyed my meal she came to my table with adaptor she just bought from the grocery. I was very impressed and later gave her some Japanese snacks I bought from Tokyo Ginza last month, I returned the adaptor during checkout. Great Scott Yard did have adaptor available while Renaissance LHR just recommended guest purchase one from their store.
All in all great stay and would definitely come back.
