Still on the fence about Atacama options. both tierra and alto look to have more impressive architecture and settings, at least to our tastes and from the photos, but a bit turned off by the group activities. Was reading above comments that Awasi doesn't photograph well. Really it doesn't look that different from some of the locally owed 3/4* properties that are 1/10th the price. Going to see if i can source a private guide + transport for 3 days.
It doesn't photograph well but it is a far superior experience to Tierra (haven't stayed at Alto). Tierra is larger and not as personalized. Awasi is all about the guide at your disposal to do whatever you want - and a high enough staff/guest ratio that means it is like good Aman service. It isn't really about the rooms (which are nice but not spectacular). Highly recommended - I'd go back to Awasi Atacama but I would definitely not go back to Tierra.
