Mileage earning opportunity of the year?

Tesco.

Best value flight of the year (excluding awards)? £8 + tax return LHR/NAP with bmi, upgraded to C with gold vouchers.

Special offer of the year (non-flight)?

Star status match - worked great for me!

Biggest f***-up of the year?

None - managed not to miss any flights (yet) this year.

Biggest pain in the derriere mileage partner?

Avis - seems to be an emergent trend!

Biggest let down of the year?

None.

Best flight of the year?

Close tie, both BA F, ex-LHR: MAA with hysterically funny crew in full party mode; YVR with only four of us in cabin, very fine booze and majestic views of Arctic icebergs and floes.

Best travel discovery of the year (physical)?

Kerala / Oregon Coast in a tie.

Best travel discovery of the year (non-physical)?

AAdvantage. Very pleased, having defected from earning in BA.

Hotel of the year?

Hotel Elliott, Astoria, Oregon.

Wierdest travel experience of the year?

Astoria - sublime blend of David Lynch and Twilight Zone!

Worst travel experience of the year?

Mercifully few bad experiences, but one that sticks in mind is IB J check-in for BA at PMI: exceptionally rude, incompetent and unhelpful. Refused lounge access or choice of seats, would you believe.

Regret of the year?

None.

Thing I'm looking forward to in 2005?

Travel-related? Back to San Fran, S. America and probably Oz.
