It's easy to cancel on the app or on the DL website. Your miles will be instantly refunded (note: you'll have to clear your cookie/open in private browsing to see it right away), and the tax/fee that you paid for in cash should show back up on your credit card a few days later. I've done this many times with no issues, past the 24hrs of booking.
Sometimes it’s automatic. Other times it goes into a queue. If you need the miles right away to rebook something else you might need to call in.
