There are scant details in the article, so hopefully these will emerge soon. The gist is that WS bussed passengers between YYC and YQR after WS 298 was cancelled due to a mechanical issue.
I am curious about what WS would do with pax who refused the bus, which is what I would have done. At this point in time, there are no alternatives with AC having withdrawn service between the two airports so one is truly reliant on WS if one wants to fly but it is hard to understand why a better solution was not found. At a guess, the real problem was a lack of available crew members for when the aircraft was put back in service and the fact that every one of their YYC-YQR flights are basically fully booked. A YYC-YQR-YYC turn can be done in less than three hours on a 737, after all.
In any case, it is a terrible look for the airline.
