Mid-May is one of my favorite times to go to Tokyo. Days are long, and weather will be mild to warm but not oppressively hot yet. Minimal risk of typhoon compared to the Fall.

If curious about weather I'd go to a weather website like Weather Underground and review average temps and actual forecasts for the past few years in the timeframe you want to visit. It will give a good idea of what to expect.
