Given B6's stellar IT, it's probably just broken, but this is common practice at many (most?) airlines to try to get you to upgrade to paid premium seats.

In fact, I just had this happen with a United Y award ticket last week. All that was left to choose were Premium Economy seats for $139 so, not wanting to get stuck in a middle seat for a transcon flight, I just bit the bullet and used more points for an F award ticket since it made much more sense that wasting nearly as much money on Premium Econ vs. an F seat. They got me.
