Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd is incorporated and registered in Hong Kong. It operates under HK laws and is listed on the HK stock exchange.
Swire Pacific, a Hong Kong company listed on the HK stock exchange, owns 45%, Air China 30%, Government of Qatar 10%. Since the 2020 bailout, the HK government has two observers on CX board.
While John Swire & Sons limited control 51% of Swire Pacific, it is incorrect to say that Cathay Pacific is a British-owned airline.
