Sadly, I think that’s unlikely. I’m not a US citizen or green card holder, so based on my experience in other countries, I doubt any lender would issue a fitting credit card to me. And unfortunately we do not have a credit card in SG from which you can convert into an AS mileage account, not even Citi, who I bank with, do, although they have a very wide range of partners here. That’s one of the drawbacks to my plan.
To be clear, the suggestion was to get AA (American AAdvantage) status through credit card spend with an American co-branded credit card. There is no way to use credit card spend to earn Alaska status (while, except using a credit card to buy flights on Alaska and qualifying partners!) and no way to convert miles from any partner into Alaska elite-qualifying miles, but American now makes it very easy with their new Loyalty Point scheme (I believe you can earn Executive Platinum/oneworld Emerald status without stepping foot on any airplane at all). There are AAdvantage
co-branded cards in many more countries than the US. I know nothing about them, but that might be another route to oneworld status (though you can't leverage SQ flights).
I don't
