Can you get a U.S. credit card? I would seriously look at generating Platinum Pro status via credit card spend, SimplyMiles, RocketMiles, and actual flying. You don’t have a segment requirement on AA to do this. If your primary goal is OWE rather than mile acquisition (AS’s program will be better for earning while flying), I’d look at it.
Sadly, I think that’s unlikely. I’m not a US citizen or green card holder, so based on my experience in other countries, I doubt any lender would issue a fitting credit card to me. And unfortunately we do not have a credit card in SG from which you can convert into an AS mileage account, not even Citi, who I bank with, do, although they have a very wide range of partners here. That’s one of the drawbacks to my plan.
