wait for a sale -- you can book flights for $29 or $39 each + the transcon
That’s a really good idea, and thank you for the details, this is exactly what I was looking for.
Unfortunately we already have our flights booked for this year, the outbound to JFK is the second part of a return ticket we bought last year. And the return was a $699 one-way steal in PE on SQ which we purchased only a few days ago (Still available for departures from mid-Aug onwards, and even for less ex EWR, if anyone is interested).
Even if we did not have our long haul flights in place yet, I would have likely been unable to fly out to LAX by myself, as my wife would have not been amused by me letting her take care of our young kids on the 18h SIN-JFK flight.
So what I will probably try and end up doing is a BWI/DCA-LAX return and nest three LAX-SEA-SFO-LAX in the middle. That would still leave me one segment short. Maybe I can build in a stop to or from the West Coast to get me to the magic dozen?
