I would just let this go. OP had enough of the fight with the hotel and it's time to enjoy the new country and the travel experience. You don't travel all the way to the other side of the world and argue with some hotel for $10.
Also if the hotel decided not to honor the benefit, wouldn't it very hard to claim the $100 Marriott guarantee?
While I respect this view, pointing out that while California is different from the east coast of the US where I live, it is not the other side of the world!!
I mostly posted here because they told me it was a new policy, and if that is indeed true, seemed worth learning for future planning for me and others. And if they had said, "oh we see the website says something different, we will look into it," I would probably have moved on.
