It's interesting that many of us who used to love Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) so much (and many of us have Lifetime Titanium status with now Marriott) have found "refuge" at World of Hyatt
It's no coincidence that the Marriott properties that I frequent these days to take advantage of my Lifetime Titanium status every now and then are ALL former SPG brands such as Westin, W, Renaissance, and Sheraton (save for an occasional JW Marriott) since I cannot stand the blandness of a typical legacy Marriott. My experience last December at the Westin Palace Madrid reminded me of how wonderful a Westin can be!
Hyatt Place and Hyatt House are rather lame places to stay at (because sometimes I have no choice) but to me, they are so much nicer and better than Marriott Courtyard and Residence Inn - people can disagree but I am entitled to my opinion.
Speaking of "amazing unparalleled benefit" from WoH like TSUs, let us not forget these Globalist benefits that Marriott and Hilton people will think that we are insance or drunk when we tell them that we can have them:
- FREE parking on award stays - that could be as much as $65 a night at places like NYC or SF
- FREE multi-course and FANCY breakfast, either at the restaurant or in your room/suite (if a lounge doesn't exist). The tab for my last Globalist breakfasts at the Andaz Fifth Avenue was $120, at the Thompson Austin was $95, and at the Hyatt Newport Beach was $65, and they were GRATIS (e.g. ZERO dollars) to me
- Guest of Honor in which you can confer all your Globalist benefits to someone else if you book an award stay to that person using points from your Globalist account
Let ANY chain match those 3 benefits, then we can have a meaningful discussion on who is "BETTER"
