Intercontinental Sydney
Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked King Club High Floor, received King Club Eastern Harbour View, 28th floor
How are the rooms?
Recently refurbished and very pleasant. Good firm bed, first time I have experienced this in a IC. Bathroom is a bit tight if you’re a tall, wideish person like me. I mean outside the shower, which is plenty big enough. Well-stocked minibar with beers, wines, soft drinks and a range of nuts, chocolates.
How is the exec. lounge?
On 31st floor now. Selection of cold snacks on a table plus two hot canapés delivered by staff. Definitely not a dinner replacement. Service was fine. Views still very nice but limited to tables by the window, not much to be seen if you’re further away. Not as nice as the old Club but still perfectly OK. Breakfast is offered in the former Club on 32 floor (which converts to a bar in the evening). I didn’t try it.
What was good and what was bad?
The Good- Location near Circular Quay
- Valet parking easy, $70 per night
- Newly refurbished room, very pleasant
- Room service dinner was promptly delivered and tasty
- Very good check-in experience but hotel was bursting (Sydney Mardi Gras). Clear explanation of Ambassador benefits
The Bad
- Better upgrade would have been nice but I wasn’t surprised given the hotel was packed. Not a big issue for me
Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Paid $1046 - exhorbitant but due to being chocka. Definitely would return though, I like the hotel.
