EUA's now cost 15,000 miles
Three days prior to departure, I finally got an email telling me I received a EUA on my outbound flight. As a Platinum that sees the EUA window becoming shorter and shorter, I was glad to get my upgrade that far in advance. I went to the website and moved around my seat assignment, happy to see the F cabin pretty much open.
However, on the next day a receipt for the itinerary was emailed to me. In it it shows my fare paid + taxes but also shows a 15,000 mileage deduction from my OnePass account. My flight was booked in H outbound and F (or D) on the back, so I was surprised to see this mileage deduction. I called the Platinum Elite line and they said the mileage was automatically deducted because of my upgrade. Considering I didn't give up my PIN number or do anything other than get an EUA email, I was rather surprised. Eventually, I got an agent on the line who was surprised (rather than "well, it looks like you upgraded this with miles, what's wrong?") and the miles were re-instated.
But the kicker was they had to give me back my coach seat and they told me I had to wait another night for the EUA process to run to get me back up to F.
I decided to gamble and wait for the EUA process to kick-in ...but isn't it obsurd that due to a CO technical glitch, they couldn't just credit back the miles for the error and preserve my F seat? Multiple calls to CO didn't seem to fix this problem.
