Atleast AA when making booking cant select seats.
You should. be able to select seating via the Qatar website or the QR App but you'll need your QR PNR. Your AA confirmation and receipt email typically quotes the AA PNR and underneath the QR PNR something like:
"
American Airlines confirmation / record locator: 1234ABD
Qatar Airways confirmation code: 12ABC1"
If it isn't in your email AA should be able to provide the QR PNR if you give them a call.
