Living in Vancouver, one only can fly to/thru London with BA. To use my companion vouchers, I have to go this route every time. BA almost always shows seats (CW or WTP - no 1st from YVR) unavailable. Reward Flight finder often shows availability.
In these cases, I have then phoned BA and ask if they have any availability on a particular date, in a particular class. Sure enough, even though the BA site showed nothing, the BA agent found availability and booked my flight. I have suggested this to many family and friends. They have used this path with total success.
What more can I state? I guess that I could do this tomorrow and present the evidence but I am not going to.
You can fly direct / through LHR on Air Canada and BA. A BA companion voucher will of course restrict things.
Please do share the evidence as this is staggering.
