This is all very strange to read as an American...

Many of our "full service" hotels don't even have lounges. Of the ones that do, very very few offer free alcohol.

4-6 PM seems about right for a happy hour - the phrase is "It's 5 o'clock somewhere" - 5 PM is the standard start of happy hour, and it is called happy HOUR. 4 is a bit early for business travelers, but when traveling on leisure, there is no such thing as too early!

Now, I understand that many hours of free drinking has been a common thing in non-US hotels for a long time. I have availed myself gladly of such, including in the property that is the subject of this thread. But still, the idea that drinking free until 6 PM and then going out to a nice dinner would be grounds to blacklist a property or report it to corporate seems a bit much (still not sure what it would be reported for, as obviously per the above it is not like Hilton requires a hotel to have a lounge, and a property might just close its lounge if someone indeed try to force it to have later hours).

I'm all for free stuff, and understand the cultural norm, but reading this objectively it seems a little reactive - I mean, if you don't want 4-6 PM free happy hours over there, feel free to send them over here. I assure you we 'muricans could get plenty of work done by 6 PM.
