Flight to PDX from SEA was cancelled last night after checking bags at the international transfer desk (after flying in from IST and JED). Put on a noon flight today. Went to hotel for the night and was awakened to see that the alternate flight was also cancelled and have now been put on a flight TOMORROW at 5;45 pm. Meanwhile, SEA -PDX flights are arriving this morning. Absolutely impossible to contact Alaska’s customer service lines. Call-backs an hour later (if they really even exist) disconnected immediately after I pick up, followed up by a text indicating they tried telephoning but no answer. Start again. Same result. Extraordinarily poor showing by Alaska. I am now on my way back to SEA-TAC to have the fare refunded in full (with an assurance by staff that my bags will find their way to PDX). Booked Amtrak, which was simple and will arrive tonight at 5:37 pm. I get that weather happens - the way a carrier follows through with its customers is critical.

BTW, I was reminded last night at the Alaska Lounge that only F passengers on flights longer than 2100 miles are allowed into lounges but they would make an ‘exception’ for me. I told them there was no ‘exception’. That full fare ticket was purchased in October prior to the bogus policy change.

After 40 years of flying Alaska, I’m done.
