Actually this depends. Sometimes the group rate will not include the standard elite level benefits for someone in exchange for a lower room booking rate. I have had hotels still give points and benefits, so its not automatic that it won't just because a company paid for it, but if the rate the company got was lowered in lieu of benefits then it won't happen. Sounds like you asked and got an answer... (if its that meaningful even ask the manager since a lot of front line people aren't in the know on all the options)
