I am trying to figure out a trip in northern Malaysia, likely ending up in Koh Samui or Phuket. We will fly into Kuala Lumpur and have booked the Grand Hyatt in Kuala Lumpur for the first few nights. Then I am at a loss. May years ago we drove the length of Malaysia. North of Kuala Lumpur, we stopped in the Cameron Highlands and the E&O in Penang. We visited Andaman Langkawi on a separate trip. I'd love to find interesting high end properties to try in Malaysia. Do they exist? If so, what are they? I am not opposed to returning to Penang and Langkawi, but would be delighted to find new grounds to explore.

Will we want to rent a car or is there other means of transport?
