When you book a BA Holiday with a car there’s a field to add your Avis preferred number. One time I booked a complex one over the phone too and they were able to add it at the time of booking.

I don’t know if they can add it after booking so in future best to add it at time of booking, but try calling BA Holidays and see what they can do
