Which Brand Offers the Most Added Value for Diamond Status?
My vote goes to the Hilton brand, maybe Conrad too (not much experience there). Executive Lounge access where provided. Room upgrade, possibly to suite. Often full breakfast. Amenity in room, at least overseas.
Doubletrees next; better room and full breakfast often. But less suite availability. Everyone gets the cookie, so no Diamond special there.
At Hampton, everyone gets the breakfast and the fancy alarm clock; at Embassy and Homewood, everyone gets the suite, breakfast, and Embassy reception. Diamonds "double pay" for some things. And Diamond bennies at HGI have been scaled back: you're more likely to have to pay for an egg breakfast, and meal selections are less than at the full-service brands.
