You must be very unlucky Dave. The only carriers that I ever experienced a real baggage limit in C between Asia and Europe were SR and JAL. Otherwise no airline, even BA particularly cares about the kg limit as long as each piece is not particularly heavy (30kg per piece). There is only one destination where they ARE particularly anal about this sort of stuff (regardless of carrier), and that is NRT.
