I know how hard it is to fly alone at that age and I figured it would make the staff’s job easier with regards to keeping an eye on him.

The FA in first thanked me and said she’d ask. Once we took off and the seatbelt light clicked off, on her next pass she mentioned she hadn’t heard back from the rear FA and she would later; I offered to ask myself if it would save time and she told me to go ahead.

I walked back and asked the FA and was taken aback by her response.

”Why would you want to do that? Do you know him? Why do you want to separate him from his group?”
first, why is it important for you to mention that the unaccompanied minor was "very young". What difference does it make? A minor is a minor.
Second, after you offered to give up your seat, the FA in the back didn't care to send a message back about the swap. Sometimes a non response is already enough to understand they didn't want to do it. Why were you so interested to give up your seat that you have to go and ask, again? (Second time to a different FA). Creepy.
And then I agree with the FA reaction? Why in the world would you want to do that? To add to what the FA said, a minor doesn't care about alcohol or attentive service (lol), why would it be so important for a minor to sit in F? Actually, being smaller (as he was "very young") the leg room and width in Y was probably more than good enough for him.
Why to persistently look for more trouble trying to swap a seat if it offered little benefit to the minor?
The whole thing comes across as very creepy. Sorry.
it would have been different if you offered the sear to someone in uniform or someone very tall.

Advice? Stay out of other people business. Find other ways to help others ( anonymous donations, toys for tots, etc). Not scanning the people boarding and finding someone to swap seats. Much less a kid.
