Unfortunately the US-HND leg is not available in any class on my upcoming dates. I will probably go with approach #1 and see if it's possible to add online myself. If not, will call partner desk and hope F availability doesn't get sniped while I try to finalize.
You may be able to rebook online if both US-HND and HND-CTS are available at the time of booking, but in that case it might be better, If you have enough miles, to book a new trip US-CTS when F becomes available and then cancel the original booking.
