Travel agencies, including OTAs, can void tickets the next business day due to ARC reporting procedures. So, it's not exactly 24 hours and, yes, a holiday weekend would extend the deadline to void a Friday-issued ticket until 11:59pm Tuesday. This can be advantageous for close-in bookings, as carriers are not required to honor the 24-cancel rule for online bookings if trael is purchased within 7 days of departure (and some don't).

However, I would not personally rely on OTAs to honor anything beyond what they state in the fine print--they could certainly program their websites to be more restrictive for the customer even though they have the flexibility on the back end to void tickets beyond 24 hours at times.
