star alliance gold is useful to have due to number of members and their extensive network while skyteam elite plus is good to have cause of the standardization of benefits with skypriority , (for one world Sapphire // Emerald its another story and i cant comment on it due to lack of knowledge)

i am FB member , while i am amongst first to recognize when they are doing bad things , i am also really lucid to recognize that grass isnt greener elsewhere before complaining .

Frankly speaking the decision AFKL FB took few years ago to get rid of status miles and replace with XP means that to keep my status i dont need to worry anymore about how much miles my booking class is earning based on whatever madness the partner airline decide to create
I'm FB (plat) aswell.

The thing is that ST has more TATL frequency then *A and with VS joining quite a lot more on the US and AF making a serious move in Canada, *A is nowhere near anything that resembles a marked leader.
*A have simply become a lazy alliance that should really get its things together when it comes to the very lucrative FF segment on the TATL routes.

You sum it up quite good with not having to worry about miles accruel due to XP. I'll go a step further often it is more lucrative to fly all other airlines then AF/KL when wanting to maximise miles due to € spent with them (and the fact that you get FB elite bonus flying ST member airlines) and still get the same XP. Which gives you much more leeway then *A
where you basically need to fly your own FF program to get a decent accruel rate (as you priviosly wrote) to Re qualifify.
This makes yet again ST more competitive.

When I look at what AF/KL are doing at the moment with blocked next seat for plat in y and free hub stopover on all bonus tickets.
AF that basically has all plains retrofitted and KL good on the way.
A AF/KL premium call center in my own Ianguage (country of less then 6mill.) that is absolutely outstanding, I will for the time being say that the grass is greener on the ST/FB side.

(Besides the TK miles redemption sweet spots
