Priceline comes to mind off hand when flying on airlines that don't offer 24-hour refunds or holds on their own. I haven't needed to avail myself of this in the past year, so maybe the policy has lost some teeth and/or gained exceptions, but it has come in handy for me in the past.
Okay - so that’s only offering something equivalent to the airlines, not better, as you initially asked/put it because I’m booking in the US and the airlines have to give the 24 hour cancellation or hold option. And then there are other hassles that come with using OTAs, such as if there are advance scheduling changes. I have to book through a third party vendor for work and it’s a pain to deal with them during and after the booking process. I would rather just deal with the airline directly.
