Wow
I’m shocked to tell you the truth it’s disturbing and now looks like a Holiday Inn or Crowne plaza
Hyatt is essentially now undesirable in Sydney.I’m rethinking my travel plan of staying there
Very sad
I’m drawn to the Sheraton and Kimpton currently in Sydney. With the new W opening this year next door to HR Sydney what on earth
is the ownership/Hyatt thinking? 🤔🙄
On the other had it makes a great employee cafeteria
Staff cafeteria is exactly what sprung to mind for me too. I don't think I've ever seen such a sharp decline in a hotel's club lounge facility - it almost looks like an Admirals Club from a decade ago. Clearly they've invested no money into design - looks absolutely abysmal and I hope guest feedback says as much. I've just cancelled my next stay. We probably shouldn't be surprised as the owner, Singapore-based M&L Hospitality has a portfolio of mainly limited service hotels. They'll be looking to extract every dollar.
Sheraton Grand and Sofitel Darling Harbour are both excellent options. The Sheraton's rooms/suites have an old-school plushness. The Sofitel's rooms are newer but less plush and in some areas feel more 4 than 5 star. Both have outstanding Club lounges - the Sheraton for the clubby vibe and Sofitel for high ceilings and magnificent views across the harbour. The PH is always a nice option, but with rooms now frequently above $1,400 a night, it's beyond what I'm willing to pay unless for special occasions.
