Just wrapped up three nights here, my first time at any NY-area Hyatt. This thread was helpful for calibrating expectations.
Arrived very early on a red eye, but was thankfully let into a room on arrival. Upgrade to 1 King Bed City View was shown in the app before check-in, and that was the room offered. There weren’t any standard suites available at time of check-in, but even if there was, I wasn’t going to fight for it.
General impressions: good hard product (bathroom especially), kind/helpful service from everyone we interacted with, mediocre food, spotty/slow wi-fi in the room, and a overall questionable point value at Cat 8 prices. This was a points stay booked at 25k/night before the jump to Cat 8, and I wouldn’t want to pay any more for that. We had in-room breakfast once, and the food was probably the worst we had in New York. Park Hyatt Omelet was bland and needed a lot of tabasco. The bill was wiped clean from the folio without any issue, though we didn’t order any more than the supposed limitations for free Globalist breakfast.
The complimentary 2-hour bike rental was fun for a quick spin around Central Park. A nice activity if the weather is cooperative. We grabbed the complimentary sample from Le Labo too, which is only like a 15 minute walk away.
We did not hear any construction sounds from our room, but it definitely hits you in the face as soon as you step out the hotel’s front door and onto the sidewalk.
Will definitely not come back for 35-45k/night, but interested in checking out other properties like the Andaz and Thompson for future NY trips. If the breakfast is meh, that eliminates a lot of the value proposition for Globalist stays IMO — though it’s pretty easy to get a great breakfast without trying very hard in NYC.
