Now another thing to consider is that the Platinum gives me Hilton Gold as well as Marriott Gold but the Marriot Gold doesn't come with free breakfast.
apparently neither does Hilton Honors Gold at hotels in the US. When I had the amex plat a few years ago, i found the HH Gold to be quite good. We were upgraded and given lounge access at the Hilton Tokyo. We were often upgraded elsewhere as well. But that was a few years ago. things have changed recently. would be a good idea to check out the HH forum here on FT and see what's going on.
