Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive? We We booked the cheapest 2xdouble room and received a generous five level upgrade to a 2xdouble club lounge access garden view. This room was almost two and half times the price of the one we booked. However it was exactly the same size and with the same facilities so a bit of a joke in my view. I have free two year lounge access from the 40 night reward. An room upgrade should be something bigger and better not a change of floor/view. They must be taking advice from IC O2.
How are the rooms? Refurbished since I last stayed in this room type. The bathroom amenities are hideous. Body lotion, shampoo, shower gel - Geneva Guild, soap - Jade, conditioner - One for You. Nope, me neither. I expect you’d have hair like straw if you used that….. Give me industrial sized bottles of Byredo nailed to the wall anytime. There was a delightful welcome gift waiting for us. Bottle of red, fruit bowl, plate of macaroons plus large bottles of still and sparkling with a personalised card welcoming us back. How is the exec. lounge? Lovely, one of my favourites. Generous with booze. You can order champagne with breakfast, wine and beer with afternoon tea and they have a fab selection of cocktails for happy hour. Long hours for breakfast, up to 11am on the weekend. Buffet plus extensive a la carte. Decent spread in the evening. Staff proactively offered last orders.
What was good and what was bad? Good carried forward spend on my non refundable stay from Jan 2021,
staff recognised us from previous visits,
lovely welcome gift with personal note welcoming us back,
massage was heavenly,
club lounge,
water pressure in the bathroom,
gym.
Bad received an email prior to stay offering club lounge access for €80, don’t they know we have free two year lounge pass?
fake upgrade,
hairdryer was broken,
one of the robes was removed with the towels on the second day and never replaced,
door to the balcony needed superhuman strength to open,
the temperature of the water in the shower was not constant, went from freezing to boiling and back again several times,
cheap bathroom amenities,
invited to spend €15 Ambassador allowance on the minibar which was empty,
given no choice of welcome amenity, received 600 points,
pool was busy, sometimes no loungers were available.
Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return? We paid €93 a night. Back every weekend at that rate.
