There were always other options. Even now Emirates and Fly Dubai are available. But, as I wrote above, SQ was the most convenient way for me to fly over there. Moral issue you mentioned does not make any sense to me re the blunt refusal of SQ to serve these destinations, since all these other airlines have no problem to fly there. People shouldn't suffer and be torn away from their roots, just because big boys decided to have a wee play and initiate a "conflict".
Anyway, - yes indeed, nothing I can do about it at the moment, so I'm seriously considering flying by Emirates.
