Show them the rooms available in the app.

I'm arriving Friday and received a proactive email from VIP services a week ago, as well as a follow up response to my preferences (ocean view preferred over garden/pool view suite, but I know it's busy there, etc.) I was at 72 nights last year, and I've stayed at GH Kauai once previously, about 2 years ago.
I'm a glob, booked a standard room on points for a week, checked in today, and was initially placed in a parking lot view standard room king bed. Front desk rep said they are sold out during the week, but he was able to talk to the mgr and moved me to a ground floor resort view room. He also said he can put me on the waitlist for another room type (upgrade) if there are cancelations, etc. Also, I checked the app and it shows no availability and/or sold out Tue and Wed nights.

The VIP mgr emailed me a couple weeks ago and I mentioned our room preference and that we're celebrating our 25th anniversary, 4th time here, etc...at the time, she said they were extremely busy, would try, etc. They did provide a nice welcome gift.

FYI, I asked to see the weekly club breakfast and dinner hot food menus...
